Back From Hiatus

Hello folks,

It's been about a month and a half since I last posted. But no apologies. I've been really busy!* Now that professors are getting all demanding, insisting we write papers, take photographs, draw a still-life for six hours, and read horribly boring books about the importance of understanding economic, social, and historical conditions associated with slavery and racism, blogging is one of the last things on my mind.**

However, I've still been doing a little cooking and some baking. Here are some crappy cell phone pics of some of the "creations" that I've bothered to take the time to expertly photograph:

First, Nina and I made some sort of stir-fry concoction, with Asian-grocery-store noodles and peanut sauce from here. It was really, good, actually. Ginger and sesame oil and peanut butter are sort of the best things ever.

Here are some chocolate chip cookies:

This is a cake that Nina made and decorated for Princess's 21st birthday (hmmm, I guess I didn't actually work on this at all. Oh well.) Anyway, it's a foot. Stepping on a pink bunny. I don't really know why. It tasted pretty okay, though, despite the canned frosting (gasp!) used for the first layer.

I also thought it would be a good idea to make cupcakes last night, right before a large-scale bro invasion. It's okay, though, the cupcakes were worth it. They're carrot cupcakes with a maple-cream cheese frosting, also from smitten kitchen. Food blogs are my new procrastination.

Oh, before I wrap this up, I've been struggling with to find an idea for a Halloween costume that isn't too lame or time-consuming. My initial plan to be a shark may or may not happen, and nothing else is jumping out at me. Thanks, however, to Anna and Merle, who suggested I be either a light bulb or a sexy light bulb. I'll let you figure out who suggested what. But, really, tell me what YOU are going to be for Halloween or, more directly, tell ME what to be for Halloween.

*I know you don't believe this either.
**Along with actually doing said work.
