Cosmic Sands

Dear Friends,

Happy Friday! Friday is really the best day of the week, at least for me. I don't have any classes, so I can wake up whenever I feel like it. But I don't feel lazy because I work in the library for a few hours, and I've got the whole weekend to accomplish things.

Today, though, I got up sort of early and went to the farmers' market in Canton, which is pretty decent. It's nowhere near the caliber of the East Aurora farmers' market, although there are significantly fewer obnoxious women dressed in tracksuits holding up traffic.

I purchased one zucchini, a few peppers, and some peaches, as well as a blueberry scone from a very friendly man and a lady missing some fingers. (I hope they do not turn up in my scone.)

I still don't think this blog has any sort of theme, really, so here are some things which I'd like to share.

First, we all know Comic Sans is just about the worst font ever. (I'm keeping my eye on you, too, Papyrus and Lucida Handwriting.) However, some rad German dude, Hannes von Döhren (and with a name like that you know he means business) invented Comic Serif, which is a much better alternative if you ever feel compelled to use Comic Sans. I'm pretty sure at some point in my time at SLU, I've recieved at least one syllabus typed in Comic Sans. How do these people get PhDs?

Second, Noah and the Whale have a new album coming out soon, and the first single, "Blue Skies," is pretty good. Perhaps you will not agree.

And now, in order to seem less self-centered, tell me what YOU are listening to. I'm interested. Really.

PS. Pictures are coming soon. But of what, I am not sure.

Chill out.

You're all just going to have to calm down while I pick a template that's more to your liking.

For now, have some sherbet.

You're just lucky they don't provide a Comic Sans option.

Greetings/Mewsic

Dear Readers,

Welcome to my blog.

Blogs as so trendy, so self-indulgent. This won't be any different. As the name implies, this blog will be rants about origami. No, not really. I'll write whatever I feel like, thank you very much.

I think both the paper cranes and the harangues will have to wait. Sunday night is no time to put a lot of effort into anything except wasting time.

First off, I hope you are a fan of music because you can't read my blog if you're not. It's sort of a rule I'm setting. Anyway, I've been listening to the new Mew album a lot. It's called:

No More Stories
Are Told Today I'm Sorry They Washed Away
No More Stories The World Is Grey
I'm Tired Let's Wash Away

A lovely poem from a lovely band. Well, at least they're a lovely band. Seriously, the frontman, Jonas somethingorother, is one of the most adorable human beings I've ever seen. Check out some pictures that Laura took at their show in Boston here. He does this cute thing with his arm when he's singing that reminds me of this girl on some soccer team in high school who ran with her arms out like a T-Rex. That was bizarre; this is precious. I don't have any more synonyms for "adorable" so I'm going to stop talking about him now.

The point is, however, you should listen to Mew's new album. My favorite song, for now, is "New Terrain". Played backwards, it's "Nervous". What clever Danish boys. "Repeater Beater" and "Beach" are great, too, as is "Sometimes Life Isn't Easy" (even when you're that adorable.)

Fin.
